Sprint Survey Reveals Work Patterns On Fridays In The Summer

Chart: Don't let Friday go to the dogs How can business owners rev-up employee morale and increase office output during the "lazy days of summer?" A Sprint national survey of 590 full-time American workers revealed that 48 percent of women and 31 percent of men surveyed believe that "casual dress" on Fridays would help increase their productivity.

Sprint, the company that offers small businesses the Fridays Free program to help increase productivity, conducted the survey to learn more about what businesses are doing to help keep their employees motivated on Fridays during the summer. The survey, conducted by ICR Research Group, identified various work patterns on Fridays and activities that would help increase productivity on that day, as well as attitudes and attire on summer Fridays.

Among the survey's key findings were:

  • 50 percent of women and 40 percent of men interviewed think Friday is the "best" day of the week

  • 41 percent believe that listening to music in the office would increase their productivity

  • 19 percent said they get a "rush of energy" to finish their office work on Fridays

  • 47 percent believe a business suit did not match the criteria for "casual dress" on Friday

  • Only 28 percent indicated that their company offers "casual dress" day as an option to help motivate employees on Fridays

"These survey results help confirm that Friday is a significant day in the workweek beyond being the last day before the weekend," said Greg Banks, senior director of small business marketing for Sprint Business, which markets communications products and services to businesses nationwide. "The results reinforce the benefits of Sprint's popular Fridays Free program, which offers free calls on Fridays to help small businesses be more productive."

Benefits of the Fridays Free program include free domestic long distance calling, faxes, incoming toll-free calls, calling card calls, and wireless long distance calls (where available) on Fridays.
