With more than 8.3 million children enrolled in day care and preschool facilities, the likelihood that colds and other infectious diseases will be passed from child to child has increased.However, a recent article published in The American Journal of Infection Control reported a study where the rate of infectious disease in the preschool environment was significantly reduced. Conducted by North Shore University Hospital, the study revealed the effect of an infection control program that included regular hand washing and disinfection with Lysol® brand products. The program resulted in the reduction of respiratory illness among children by more than one-third and a decrease in missed school days by almost fifty percent.
