PDF, based in New York and linked to the Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, the world's leading research center in Parkinson's disease, celebrates its 40th anniversary in 1997.
Throughout these years, the Foundation has pursued two goals: to provide information and support to the many thousands of families who suffer from the disease and to raise money for research dedicated to finding its cause and cure. Among PDF's activities are a newsletter, published four times a year; public events including seminars via satellite, an annual Parkinson's Unity Walk, advocacy forums in Washington, D.C.; and continuing contact with the individuals and families who turn to the Foundation for everything from physician referrals to counseling to information on the latest drugs or surgical procedures.
