Bone-chilling temperatures, gusting northerly winds and icy, snow-covered roads can spell disaster for the unprepared motorist. That's why it's so important to take steps now to "weather-proof" vehicles for the upcoming winter season. The National Weather Service is calling for near-normal temperatures and near-normal precipitation for most of the United States through the end of December. Portions of the midwest are the exception to the rule with below-normal temperatures and above-normal precipitation expected. "Winter weather can put a tremendous strain on vehicles, especially those that haven't been properly maintained," said Norm Hudecki, Valvoline's director of technical services. "As the old saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and that couldn't be more true when it comes to vehicle maintenance and the winter weather season." Valvoline experts say simple routine maintenance and the use of quality products can better prepare motorists for winter driving.
