The trend toward flat, single-color hair is fading. Haircolor will no longer be monochromatic, but will feature rich interweavings of color and the return of multidimensional reds. Everyone, whether blond or brunette, will want highlights that add depth to their natural -- or new -- color.
Friends may remain hot on TV, but the popular show's influence is cooling off in the salons. Choppy Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox looks need sleeking. Mid-length hair with classic cuts will be making a strong comeback, and longer looks will feature tighter, more ringlet-style curls than in the past. Short hair is sleek and tapered-for men as well as women. And don't be surprised if men start shaving again. All in all, it's going to be smooth sailing ahead.
Fingernail lengths are a little longer and more femininely tapered, but, even when featuring enhancements, are still "career" length. And it seems the French manicure look isn't about to go out of style, not when it's so wearable for almost every woman.
"The North American Hair-styling Awards are truly the most important and respected awards of the salon industry," says Fred Polk, executive vice president of the Beauty and Barber Supply Institute and executive producer of the awards show. "These are our leaders-who are truly ahead of the trends. (NAPSI)
