"Part of designing fragrances for me is creating wonderful images in the mind's eye," said de la Renta. The image that inspired de la Renta to create Oscar, a romantic floral blend, was his childhood belief that dewdrops embodied the essential scent of a flower. Volupte, a voyage of the senses with mimosa, freesia, jasmine and amber, came to the designer as a provocative "dress" of scent. When he created Pour Lui for men, de la Renta saw a confident man of action, not unlike the designer himself.
"I've never been so creatively involved," said the designer, whose recent 1996 collection features soft, minimal, feminine creations. Everything Oscar de la Renta does is about accentuating femininity without exaggeration. (NAPSI)
